Cat 72, Talon
9" x 12", acrylic on canvas
This painting was done in 2023 of an older cat belonging to friends. He was named "Talon" but more commonly addressed as "Kitty". The cat reached a respectable age but had been slowly declining for a while and wasn't expected to be around much longer when I did this painting. But happily, he made it another year and a half before his time was up.
I got to know him over the years, and he always responded with great enthusiasm when I showed up, wanting to interact with me. He is missed.
I like how I handled this with the sharpest treatment on the head and softer edges everywhere else.
